Morning Light is a 11″x14″ unframed ocean oil painting on an archival panel. This painting won the First Place award at the 2015 Harvest Fair Art Show in Santa Rosa, California.
I painted Morning Light plein air at one of the overlooks near Bodega Bay, Sonoma Coast, California. I sketched in the big shapes with charcoal. Then I painted the sky, water and rocks with a brush. Thicker plate was applied with a palette knife on some of the rocks to give them texture.
